Another snowy weekend

January 17, 2022

Happy Monday! We had another snowy weekend here in the D.C. area (plus...the threat of Omicron) so this weekend has been about staying warm indoors and doing nothing besides cooking, reading, organizing, and watching TV. In a word, it’s been boring but I’m trying to savor this unstructured and quiet time.

Just a few things to share this week...

The best blankets, according to GNI readers.

Wordle has officially become a group chat daily topic. My best is 3/6 so far. You?

One hundred percent absorbed by the book Matrix by Lauren Groff. I started two days ago and I’m halfway finished. Which is speedy, for me! If you enjoyed the poetic writing style and fierce women of Circe by Madeline Miller, you might like this.

I’m currently living in my Girlfriend Collective sweat suit: cropped sweatshirt + sweatpants is my uniform for these blob-like days. (On sale right now!)

Made me laugh: Books by Salad Rooney by Carolyn Yoo.

I stumbled upon this app called Sprout which just might be the secret to making zoom meetings and virtual friend hangs less dreadful and more delightful. You can design and build a custom “interface” for your meetings, and even build in spots for watching things like YouTube together. The design-maker-nerd in me is loving it and can’t wait to tinker.

Blame it on the temp drop: I’ve bookmarked this extra woolly-fuzzy hand-knit balaclava on Etsy.

I loved watching Priya Krishna’s fun video reporting on a TikTok-famous bodega in NYC.

Snow + duck molds = an absolutely delightful thing. 🦆

Right now I’m forcing myself to window shop rather than purchase more clothing, but...Alex Mill just released some of their bestselling sweaters in cashmere form. I’ve got my eye on this one.

Finally, if you like Wordle you might like Wiki History Game? (h/t Garbage Day).

That’s all for this week! 👋
